The House of Representatives of the US Congress passed an amendment that exempts India from sanctions after the purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems, which angered Ankara, writes the Turkish edition of Haber7 .
The publication emphasizes that this decision of the House of Representatives angered Turkey, because when Ankara acquired the S-400, the United States imposed restrictions on it. In particular, due to restrictions, Turkey was excluded from the F-35 fighter production program.
In this regard, Haber7 notes that „the CAATSA (Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act – ed.) sanctions imposed against Turkey will not apply to India. The refusal to impose sanctions against India reaffirms that CAATSA sanctions against Turkey will never were not associated with the S-400. The main purpose of these sanctions is the desire of the United States to pacify Turkey and subordinate its national security to its own discretion.”
