The Tokyo Stock Exchange fell slightly Tuesday morning, in the wake of a hesitant session the day before on Wall Street pending the quarterly results of large American stocks and the start of the Fed meeting.
The flagship Nikkei index yielded 0.31% to 27,614.27 points around 01:40 GMT while the broader Topix index stagnated (-0.07% to 1,941.89 points).
The quarterly results of tech giants Alphabet (Google) and Microsoft are notably expected on Tuesday in the United States, and a monetary policy decision by the American Federal Reserve (Fed) is expected on Wednesday, where the institution should once again sharply raise its key rates to control inflation.
In such a context, investors in Tokyo preferred to play it safe.
